Visit Fairfax is a non-profit organization working to distinguish Fairfax County as a premier tourist destination. Their mission is to enhance economic and social growth in Fairfax County and Northern Virginia by marketing, promoting, and developing tourism, conventions, sports and hospitality opportunities in the area.
Visit Fairfax wanted to refresh and update a previous campaign aimed at birdwatchers. Birders spend nearly $41 billion annually nationwide on trips and equipment, and Fairfax County is located in the midst of the Mid-Atlantic Flyway, and has many particularly rich birding opportunities. The campaign runs in both print and digital forms.
The Creative Director provided us with a brief and the concept of birdwatching being a calming, meditative, and mindful experience, that could be found in abundance in Fairfax County. I researched the relevant subcultures, selected the photographs and worked with the copywriter to design this campaign, which was the concept chosen by Vist Fairfax to use.
